Choose Alpinestars pants around your ride: leather, in-boot models for active street riding, Drystar textile pants for wet weather, or a casual cotton cut for everyday use. Women can compare the waterproof Stella Andes v4 Drystar with the mesh-equipped Stella Andes Air Drystar for warmer conditions.

Check fit details before choosing a size
Boots change the answer. An in-boot lower leg sits inside a compatible riding boot, so check calf room with your normal boots on. Both the Track v2 and Missile v3 Airflow use this construction.
The Track v2 has large calf stretch panels. The Missile v3 Airflow adds extensive stretch at the calf and crotch, along with a high-flex design that follows the knee. Both have pre-curved legs intended to improve fit and reduce riding fatigue.
Check them in riding posture. A leather pant that feels fine while standing can pull differently at the knees and hips once you settle onto a sport bike.
The men's Andes v4 Drystar takes a different approach. It has an adjustable waist, a jacket-to-pant connection zipper and 3-position knee protectors. Make sure the protectors sit over your knees on the motorcycle, not only while you are standing.
The women's Stella Andes v4 Drystar is shaped for the female figure. It also has an adjustable waist, a jacket-to-pant connection zipper and 3-position knee protector adjustment.
For more flex in a warm-weather textile pant, the Stella Andes Air Drystar has stretch inserts at the crotch and knee. Its hook-and-loop waist adjustment helps secure the fit.
Check the individual product page for the offered size, men's or women's cut, stated material and connection details. Check fitment for your exact year, make and model before you order.
Choose for wet, warm, or changing riding conditions
Rain is only part of the choice. For a commute or road trip that can turn wet, the men's Andes v4 Drystar is stated to be 100% waterproof and breathable.
Its reinforced 450D polyfabric covers the front, thighs, back yoke and back of the lower legs. Rip-stop reinforcement is used in stated high-abrasion areas, including the seat, knees and shins.
Cold changes the fit. The women's Stella Andes v4 Drystar is also stated to be 100% waterproof and breathable, and its removable thermal liner has 100g insulation at the thighs and 60g at the lower legs. Leave enough room for that liner without letting the knee armor shift away from your knees.
Warm traffic calls for airflow. The Stella Andes Air Drystar uses extensive 2D mesh for airflow and ventilation, with stretch inserts at the crotch and knee. Its Drystar construction is also stated to provide 100% waterproof performance and breathability.
Connections differ by model. The Andes v4 examples have jacket-to-pant connection zippers, while the Stella Andes Air Drystar has a 3/4 zipper for compatibility with Alpinestars touring jackets.
Before the riding season changes, verify each model's waterproof feature, removable liner, ventilation and jacket connection. Do not assume those details carry across the Alpinestars range.
Confirm armor and separate-system details
Do not mix these features up. Listed knee armor is part of the named pant's protection package, while compatibility with an airbag system does not mean that system comes in the box.
- Men's Andes v4 Drystar: This pant lists Level 1 Nucleon Flex knee armor. Its reinforced seat, knee and shin sections are abrasion-area construction, not an airbag system.
- Women's Stella Andes v4 Drystar: This model lists flexible, ventilated Level 1 Nucleon Flex Plus knee armor.
- Men's Missile v3 Airflow: This pant is Tech-Air ready and can accommodate the Tech-Air 10 Airbag System with extended hip protection. The airbag system is sold separately.
Read the product page to separate listed armor, compatible equipment and anything purchased separately. Check what is in the box and what the maker says each protective feature is designed to cover. If the page does not say, ask PirateMX before ordering.
Armor, reinforced fabric and an airbag system may help manage impact or abrasion in the areas they cover, depending on the design and crash. No riding pant or protective system guarantees the rider avoids injury.
